The second annual Force on the Course event took place on Saturday, May 15. Over 30 Lexington police officers each paired up with a Jr. Golfer of the DSE (Do Something Extraordinary) Golf Club to play nine rounds of golf.

The goal of Force on the Course is to build positive relationships and allow students to interact with members of law enforcement in a fun environment. Thanks to multiple sponsors and donations, the kids are able to participate at no cost.

The event raised over $4000 dollars, with proceeds benefiting the annual Shop with a Cop program that happens with the Lexington Police Department around Christmas time. With this money, Mary Todd Elementary was also added to the list of schools able to participate in next year’s event. This year’s participating schools included Garden Springs, Deep Springs, Northern.

Shad Lacefield, administrator for Do Something Extraordinary (DSE) Golf Club, shares, “My favorite part about the event was what one officer said ‘It makes us feel good’ and that was the goal to have an event where at the end both cops and kids walk away feeling good.”

The DSE Golf Program provides free golf lessons, materials, and extraordinary opportunities for kids to grow as golfers, students, and members of their community.
