Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library launched in 1995 and grew quickly. By 2003, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library had mailed one million books, with millions more to come.
The program mails free, high-quality books to children from birth to age five, regardless of income.
During Parton’s visit this week, Governor Andy Beshear issued a proclamation observing Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of Kentucky Month, in honor of her work in the bluegrass state.
The Fayette Education Foundation is the program partner in Lexington. This summer, the program has expanded to all of Kentucky’s 120 counties.
