Fayette County’s Board of Education is taking action on the next steps for the county’s newest middle school. This includes approving a price increase of more than $6.5 million.

The middle school, which is located on Polo Club Boulevard, is projected to cost $47.2 million. The original cost estimate was $40.6 million.

The building is expected to be around 140,479 square feet and serve 1,200 students.

The board decided on June 14 that it will consider approving several items including the construction cost, a revised project application, and design documents in two weeks.

The middle school is expected to be ready in fall of 2023.

Board of Education will vote on revisions on June 28.
